LRS Federal Awarded $5.6M Homeland Security Monitoring Contract

(PRWEB) January 25, 2010 -- LRS Federal, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned engineering and technical services company, was awarded a four-year, $5.6M contract by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to conduct air monitoring support for Washington DC and the surrounding area. This contract will specifically support the DHS Office of Health Affairs (OHA) BioWatch program, a biodefense program to help protect the health and medical security of the homeland. The BioWatch program provides continuous surveillance for aerosolized exposures caused by intentional release of biological agents.

Under this contract, LRS Federal will perform services that include sample collection, operations and maintenance, new technology integration and emergency/critical support. The sensitive nature of the work requires close coordination with state, local and federal officials to ensure prompt reporting of monitoring results. This contract continues LRS Federal’s monitoring and technology development support for the Departments of Defense and Energy.
